It's Kenyan time!

On the GVI Mombasa project we are proud of the fact that we all work hard in the field, but we also like our evenings in the base house, spent relaxing and socialising with each other (of course after all our lesson plans and chores are done!).

As previous volunteers will agree, the social side of living alongside like-minded volunteers, makes your time on the project even more enjoyable. Living under the one roof, you form strong friendships.

The photographs above were taken of us celebrating Australia Day, last week. The Aussie's amongst us built a 'barbie' and the staff organised a fun, interactive quiz. The photograph below was taken of all of us celebrating long-term volunteer, Natasha's birthday, at a nearby cafe that do amazing deserts!

Volunteers often have never been to Kenya and are keen to make the most of their free weekends. There is so much to do and see, from exploring towns up and down the coast, having a bit of luxury and staying in the nearby tourist hotels or fitting in a weekend safari to Tsavo.

We may be slightly biased but this is one AWESOME project!
