Get to Gedi!
As a one day get away a group of volunteers headed up the coast to the Gedi Ruins, near Watamu.
The Gedi Ruins, a Swahili village founded in the 13th Century with the ruins dating back to the 15th Century.
We caught the matatu all the way up and it cost us 200 HUNDRED...shillings that is. They'll ask you for more but won't argue if you pay the locals price.

At Gedi, if you say you are a volunteer they will give you the residents price. You can use what you would pay for full price to get a guide, which is definitely recommended. Our guide Samson was so interesting and made the trip so much better. Without him, we wouldn't have understood all the meaning of this place.

Like the title says, when in Kenya make sure you get to GEDI!!!!!!
