Sunrises & Sunsets

Sunrises and sunsets here are amazing. No matter where you are located in the city, it is always beautiful.  They usually occur around the same time every morning and night since Mombasa is only about three degrees south of the equator. I have taken so many photos of them and it never seems to be the same.

The first sunset I observed was at Moorings which is a little hut restaurant that floats on the water.

Another gorgeous sunset was from Tamarind. We went there also for a going away dinner and it was also breathtaking.

A favourite place to go and watch a sunset is at Tamarind, Nyali

Then a weekend or two later a group of us went to Tiwi Beach. We got up at 530 Sunday morning to see the sunrise! Probably the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. To sit there and think that the sun is lighting up another part of the world while it is dark here is such an incredible thought. It is so widely known that this happens but to see it rise for us and know that it is setting for another part of the world all at the same time is truly incredible.

Africa has made me obsessed with the sunrises and sunsets. I now get up on weekends and run early in the morning to the beach so I can watch the world light up.
