Wheels in Motion

The sweet and smiling faces of my every day at school!

During my short time on the project, I feel suitably well prepared to express my first impressions on this wonderful community. The adults who have drawn their inspiration from the innocence of children and to nurture and care for their youth are an inspiration themselves. They are giving them the most important tool they will need for their future, an education.

Classroom madness!

I have been assigned to the school, Precious Vision. The building is condemned, there is very little in the way of educational literature and aids however, this doesn’t stop the basic need to learn. With these children, they have a thirst and learning quenches it. It is quite amazing to witness. The children are an absolute delight. It won’t matter how their views change in the future because what they have experienced during their formative years at Precious will shape their future without doubt.

One very excited little boy!

Madame Jane is the matriarch, Precious Vision revolves around. Her compassion and drive are without equal. It is sad that there are so many obstacles in the way to what she wants to achieve but that is where GVI comes in. Although progress is relatively slow in Kenya, the wheels are in motion and Precious Vision will be moving location at the beginning of next month. This is so exciting and Madame Jane is eager for the transition. This signals to her a fresh start and she will have the tools, with help, at her disposal to facilitate the change. It only highlights the great need for humanitarian projects such as these. We could muse over foreign politics all day and not come to any conclusions; the exercise in itself is futile. To concentrate on helping the youth and supporting the adults is essential and the only thing worth focusing on.
