Eye-Popping Science!
What a cutie! The next Beyonce?
Science class today in Standard 2 was an eye-opening experience as pupils learnt all about the human eye! The lesson started with a discussion about eye colour; the children were fascinated by Madam Lisa's green eyes compared with their own black/brown eyes. Next they thought in depth about how life would be different if they couldn't see. They tried out this idea of blindness playing a game with a blindfold and a 'feely' bag at the front of the classroom using alternative senses to work out the contents of the bag.
Omari in his glasses.
Only one child in the class wears glasses so he was quizzed as to how they worked, what they were for, where they were from and how much he could see without them. Omari took great delight in being centre stage and explaining about his eye doctor in Ukunda. Next the children took it in turns to try out the many pairs of sunglasses and 'crazy' glasses that Madam Lisa had brought with her.
Eye see you!
Too cool for school!
Finally we talked about making a trip to the optician, what it would involve and what you would have to do and then the children took great delight in taking it in turns to test each other's eye-sight on the makeshift eye chart on the board!
