Olive Olympics

Friday was the last day of the term and we wanted to make it a special day. We decided to have the first annual Olives Olympics! During the week we organized the events and made many vibrant medals.

The day had finally come and excitement was in the air. We started off with the track races that included, egg & spoon, 3-legged race, and sack races. The teachers demonstrated each event, which made for quite an amusing sight.

It rained throughout the day, but we weren’t going to let a little bit of water spoil our fun. We took a mid-day break at the school and headed back to the field. We had a double-elimination Tug-Of-War tournament. During our first match, the rope snapped, and both sides went tumbling down. As the competing children looked around with a look of confusion, both teams raised their hands in triumph, cheering loudly.

Sports day was awesome and I have great confidence that it will only get better. These kids are amazing and I will miss them very much. Asante Sana!
