Olives is back to school........

Olives is back to school........

So school's back in full swing at Olives and after the extended Christmas break it feels great to get back in the swing of things.

This time around I've been given Standard 4 and it's nice to get to know some new kids at school. Moving down to this standard has certainly been an adjustment. Unlike my old class, the boys and the girls are firmly entrenched on separate sides of the room, so there's a lot less flirting to have to outlaw.

This class contains at least 2 kids who don't even know the alphabet, which has been a struggle to say the least. It's strange to go back to teaching more basic English and grammar rules, a lot of which I'm having to relearn how to articulate to younger kids. It is so nice to get to be with younger kids.

They really enjoy the stories we've been reading in class, especially ones about talking animals. It's great to see them improve on reading out loud. All in all I'm happy to be teaching this class of 45 rambunctious 7-9 year olds and I hope to share some of their pictures and stories with you over the coming weeks.
