Swimathon!!

Swimathon!!

Beginning of July Precious Vision Care Centre went back to Braeburn International School to take part in a swimathon at their pool!

Standard 6 and 7 with  Students from Braeburn

The students from Standard 7 took part as well as six of the best swimmers from Standard 6.  The children left with the GVI volunteers in the late morning, and arrived at Braeburn in time for a delicious lunch of Pilau, which was supplied for them by the school.  After lunch there was time for the children to play with their new friends; the boys headed straight to the football pitch (where the final score was 1-0 to Precious).  Meanwhile, the girls played on the jungle-gym.

Next it was time for the main event!  The students of Braeburn have been raising money for the Precious Land Fund (a fund for us to raise the amount needed to purchase our land and avoid paying rent in the future).  For a couple of hours the students swam lengths of the large swimming pool, and the Precious students excelled themselves!  The star swimmer was Brian Ase from Standard 6 who swam 34 lengths (without cheating!)

Once all the students had thoroughly exhausted themselves they headed inside for some well deserved sandwiches and slices of cake!  A great day had by all, thanks Madam Nicky for making it happen!
