Using Atlas' In Standard 6

This week the students of Standard 6 at Precious Vision Care Centre have been busy decorating their classroom!  There is now a library corner; where the best book reviews from the previous week go on display, an english grammar corner; with helpful hints and tips, and an 'Around the World' corner.  Yesterday we incorporated English, Geography and Creative Arts to create posters to brighten up and add information to the map of the world we now have in the classroom.

The children chose a country, drew its flag and wrote a few sentences about the country.  Some of the countries chosen were Greece, Norway, Russia and Jamaica.  The class were brilliant at, not only finding information about their country, but also choosing the most relevant facts to include in their work.  They researched the Statue of Liberty through to the Parthenon, the Vikings to the Masai!

It is of the utmost inportance that they have lively, stimulating classrooms to work in and it also improves their self-esteem as they now have a goal - to get their work on the wall!
