"Is It Friday Yet?!?!"

This has been the start of our third week here at Olives. So far the experience has been amazing and I am beginning to think that my six week stay is not long enough. Getting to know each child on a different level other than teaching is priceless.

Wassss Uuuuuup!

In Science, we have just finished our unit on plants and started our new unit on weather. Tomorrow we are going to create a water gauge, however, with no rain here in Mombasa we are going to have to compromise and make our own rain. Under the shade of a tree in front of our classroom, there is a nice breeze. We are planning on making a wind sock to show the strength of the wind and wind direction.

For Creative Arts we have prepared a week-long project on African Countries. Each child has been assigned their own country on which to research and prepare a presentation to the class. Janet and I are really looking forward to the creativeness and understanding of their countries.

The Happy Crew

Last Friday we split the class in two teams for a competitive game of Jeopardy. Topics included everything we have learned for the past two weeks such as reading comprehension, plants, language use and miscellaneous facts. The whole class participated and enjoyed the game. Every morning they ask us if it’s Friday so we can play Jeopardy again. Every day with Standard 5 is adventure and Janet and I are finding that we are spending more and more off periods with the children.

Where's PETE???
