Excitement for dictionaries
Today standard four used dictionaries and thesauruses, this was a first for most children in the class. There was a lot of enthusiasm and excitement and most of the children grasped the concept quite quickly.
There were not enough thesauruses for each child in the class so they worked in small groups and took turns at looking words to complete the exercise.
It was good to see the children working together as teams and taking extra care not to damage the books.
This is the year in which standard four will start writing compositions so this was a good start to helping them increase their vocabulary.
